The CTRA rules are defined here. By agreeing to our licence agreement, all users of the CTRA system ('drivers') assert that they have read the rules in full, and agree to abide by them.
- General Conduct
- Licence Sharing: CTRA licences are intended for one person and one person only. Any driver found sharing their licence with another person, including other members of the same household, may be removed from the CTRA. All drivers are responsible for ensuring that their licences are secure. Licence theft and/or misuse is not the responsibility of the CTRA.
- Abuse: Drivers must refrain from abuse or harassment for the purposes of insulting, bullying or belittling another driver or group of drivers. Examples of abuse and harassment include,but are not limited to: derogatory references to age; sexual orientation; race; religion; nationality; driving skills and abilities. Deliberately causing annoyance or nuisance in the server or to individuals is forbidden. CTRA admins' word is final.
- Language/Spam Filter: Drivers must not deliberately circumvent CTRA language or message spam filters.
- Wrecking: Drivers must not deliberately ram or obstruct other drivers in a manner deemed unsporting. Such acts of malice will be dealt with most severely.
- Revenge Wrecking: Drivers must not perform acts of revenge or retribution. All such acts will be regarded by CTRA admins as independent acts of malice. Complaints against other drivers must be submitted to CTRA through the reporting system and not on the track or in the CTRA servers.
- Program Cheats: Drivers must not use, at any time, any external applications to provide an unfair advantage over other drivers in the servers. Such applications include, but are not limited to: external scripts for automation; applications used to intercept/manipulate data packets. Drivers found using such programs on servers, including those not governed by CTRA, will be permanently excluded from CTRA servers.
- Grid Manipulation: Drivers must not remove other drivers from the start grid at the Race End screen without first giving warning and providing them time to click Ready. Drivers are required to give other drivers time to select a new setup at the Race End screen before restarting a race.
- Sporting Code
- Rejoining Into Traffic: Drivers must check that the way is clear before rejoining the track. This includes corner/straight incidents and rejoining from the pit lane.
- Overtaking: Drivers must achieve significant overlap with the car on the outside, in order to gain rights to a corner. Significant overlap is defined as the bumper/wing of the inside car being level with or ahead of the driver's head on the outside. The measurement is taken at the corner's normal turn-in point. Deliberate contact on entry to a corner, in order to destabilise the car in front and take advantage of the incident is described as bump and stealing. Habitual bump and stealers will receive heavy penalties and even exclusion.
- Accident Conduct: Drivers who cause incidents that result in other cars being unfairly disadvantaged are required to return the position to the affected driver, even if this results in the loss of several positions.
Drivers who fail to meet these expectations will receive severe penalties or even exclusion. Note the following:-
- The return of position must occur within two corners distance from the point of the original incident.
- If the disadvantaged driver either is unable or unwilling to continue, or whose car is pushed out of bounds, the offending driver cannot return the position within the alloted time. In such circumstances, consideration may be given by the admins to a voluntary drive-through penalty (or 1 second stop-go penalty on circuits without pitlanes) by the offending driver before the end of the same race as the incident occurred.
- Course Cutting: Drivers should gain neither positional nor time advantage by cutting the course. Course cutting for the purposes of gaining a time advantage on CTRA servers is regarded as a serious offence, because of the implications for the points scoring system, and penalties directly reflect this.
- Defending Position: Drivers may move once per track segment (between two corners) to prevent an overtaking move (defend position). Additionally, drivers may also return to their line after that move. Drivers may make no futher moves to obstruct until the next track segment. If another driver attains any measure of overlap, the defensive move is deemed to have failed and drivers must allow room for the other car on the track.
- Driving With Damage: A driver who incurs damage to his vehicle during a race must drive responsibly according to the damage suffered. If a vehicle's braking or suspension is impaired following an accident, the driver should make his way to the pits for repairs rather than attempt to continue competing in the race. Penalties may result from impacting others' races as a result of driving a damaged car.
- Blue Flags
- Lapping (Normal Blue): Drivers who are blue flagged are not expected to resist an overtaking move by the car behind.
Drivers should:
- Hold the normal racing line and drive in a predictable manner.
- Optionally take a wider line through a corner to allow another car to pass.
- Use best judgement to determine the safest way to allow the lapping car through.
- Mid-Race Joining (Waved Blue): Drivers who have joined the race after the race has begun, or who have rejoined the race after pitting/spectating, are allowed on the track solely by the grace of the race marshals. They must not impact the progress of the current race or its competitors in any way. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Closely following a competitor, pressuring them or feigning overtaking moves on them;
- Obstructing the track for competitors;
- Overtaking competitors;
- Voting to restart an ongoing race.
- Mixed Class Mid-Race Joiners: On servers with mixed class racing, midrace joiners in higher classes may overtake lower-class cars. The lower class car must provide maximum space by choosing and staying on one side of the track, and the higher class car must use the other. The overtaking move may be performed provided the following conditions are met:
- The higher class car must be in position and ready to perform an overtaking move on entry into the preceding corner.
- The overtaking move is performed on a track section that is straight and long, and only where the overtaking move can be completed safely before the following corner.
- Lapping Cars: Drivers who are lapping slower cars are required to present themselves and give full and clear indication of their intention to pass. They must not force overtaking moves and should expect to lose time. They must not apply pressure by issuing blue flag messages themselves.
- Yellow Flags: Drivers are expected to heed yellow flags and drive accordingly. Driving headlong into accidents when drivers have been issued yellow flags is not considered acceptable behaviour. Penalties may result if such instances compound existing race incidents.
- Stopping On Track: It is against the CTRA rules to stop on the track to allow another car through. Drivers may pull off the track to allow passing cars safe passage only when it is safe to do so.
- Website Use
- Drivers who abuse the features of the CTRA website(s) may lose access to MyCTRA features.
- Drivers who wish to be included in CTRA statistics are required to use realistic-sounding first and last names. When found, unrealistic names will be removed. Initials for both first and last names are considered insufficient and will be removed. Repeated incidents may result in loss of access to MyCTRA website features. Drivers wishing to remain anonymous should not enter first and last names in the CTRA system.
- General Acceptance Of, And Compliance With Expectations
- The CTRA is developed, hosted and staffed by volunteers. It is provided as-is, free of charge to drivers. Participation in the CTRA system is subject to these rules and to instructions issued by the CTRA software and staff.
- Participants who create a nuisance of themselves or who bring the name of the CTRA into disrepute, either in the servers or on forums, through deed or word, may be excluded from participating in CTRA. CTRA reserves the right to suspend or terminate an individual driver's association as its staff deems suitable or necessary.

The same rules as for other CTRA licences apply to Bump 'n' Jump racing. Further to those rules, variations are as follows:
Concept
The concept of the Bump & Jump servers is to offer something a little different from typical online racing. Using layouts often featuring oncoming traffic, the idea is to have fun in a less intense environment than normal race servers. However, this is not a banger racing server and wrecking is not tolerated. Race to win, but expect to crash.
Contact
In Bump 'n' Jump we tolerate light contact, 'nerfing' and 'light brushes'. Crashing another car into a barrier or hard ramming them is not acceptable.
Rejoining After a Spin
Take care to avoid other cars when rejoining. Look around you to ensure no cars are approaching.
Wrong Way
Some race tracks feature sections of track designed to put many cars in conflict with each other. You should try to avoid occupying the same piece of tarmac as other cars.
Overall Conduct
Your conduct on the Bump 'n' Jump server is no less a reflection on you as a CTRA driver. Any driver caught wrecking (i.e. driving to crash rather than driving to compete), either with malice OR for fun, is subject to licence review by the CTRA admins. A ban from the Bump 'n' Jump server is a CTRA system-wide ban.

Additional information on CTRA Rules:
CTRA Admins may, from time to time, issue instructions to drivers regarding driving conventions, in-server behaviour or standards, or conventions/regulations regarding the use of the CTRA system. In all instances, drivers are required to follow the instructions promptly. Failure to comply with instructions from CTRA Admins in a prompt fashion may result in removal from the system, points deductions or even licence revocation. The absence of a specific rule from this summary DOES NOT constitute permission to behave in a way that is contrary to the spirit of the CTRA, OR to disregard an instruction from the CTRA system or its admins.
